    newbie help! what cam?

i have been searching and searching, but i am so lost and confused haha! so it came down to asking for help. sorry if i offend anyone for asking the question that has been asked so many times before.

i have a 99 Chevy silverado with a 5.3, i have cold air intake, and borla exhaust. i am looking for a cam that will give me that nice low, choppy, thumpy, sounds like its going to stall idle... i plan on getting a tune after i install the cam. but want to run stock torque converter for a while but plan on upgrading down the road. so any ideas on what cam to go with?? thanks for the help everyone.

SEARCH!!! and READ!!! there is no perfect one.

Get a tune first then ask your tuner what he has had success with.

The tune is the most important part to get the thump. Also the exhaust setup. 212/218 is the best stock stall cam. There isn't an exact science to selecting your cam.

With a nelson tune you can get it then get a free re-tune for the cam.
where have you searched? what have you come up with? What does LSA do?

if you want a thumpy cam do a 224/230 581/.588 112lsa, youre gonna need a tune right away, and a stall for sure eventually thats the cam i run and it thumps well.

like i said i have know clue what im doing, i guess i just dont see getting a tune installing it, then getting a cam and installing it then sending the tune back? im just trying to find a cam then i can call the guy that's gonna do the tune and essentially install them at the same time..

I think that can would be a turd with out a stall. Like almost worse than stock untill 2500. Maybe not though. Never tried a cam that big w/o a stall.

I plan on getting a stall in a few months, I'm really just after that sweet idle sound thats it, I don't have a race truck and don't plan on it, its just a daily driver
