Please clarify this 4 wheel drive issue,

i blew the stock g80 rear end, which really was a good setup from stock, didnt feel like paying for a posi unit so i stuck a open diff carrier in it, figured it would get me on the road and it was cheaper well i HATE it, anyways in 4hi or 4 lo dont matter before it blew i could hook up to a truck to pull them out of the mud and all 4 wheels would spin, now i got the open diff, every time i hook up to say the front end tow hooks, in 4 wheel, hi or low, it just spins the back wheels only ,the front try, if i just am mudding 4 wheels works great, just everytime i try to pull someone out makes my truck look like a sissy, so point is the open diff causing the the problem? i really want to get rid off this pos open diff.

yes, the transfer case senses the rear tires are spinning therefore its going to send the power to them.
