Ive been wondering what does a nitrous cam differ from a N/A cam? or is there any? i plan to get a cam pretty soon for my truck, i am currently not spraying, but if my goals are not achieved i plan to spray it to get me their. ive seen many cams in classifieds that say its a nitrous cam but i have no idea whats different. so you guys that spay please shed some light because im clueless.

They are a lot like boost cams, but from what I understand anything with a fairly wide LSA works out well.

Spare yourself all the heartache, spend 25 bucks, and call Patrick G.

    Here's the deal...

You're either going to build a vehicle to run on nitrous or you're going build one to run on nitrous. If you're wanting to accomplish your goals N/A, get a cam for N/A...If you know you're going to run some nitrous(which if its crossed your mind, you're gonna do it lol)Tell whoever grinds your cam, "hey I want a cam that's going to work well for me on motor and also like a 100shot of nitrous(or whatever).

To answer your question, a nitrous cam generally has a split duration that is biased to the exhaust side and maybe even a little wider lsa...Of course your head design, flow characteristics, compression etc etc all come into play as well when someone spec's you a cam. Get with everyones favorite, Pat G(that's who spec'd mine), Bullet Cams, Cam Motion, or even a local race engine builder if there are any near you.

To add to this a little, from what I've seen of most LS nitrous cams, the split is 8* degrees or more...I've seen old school SBC and BBC cams with 20* splits and 117LSA's
