    zo6 cam worth my time?

alright, i have a 2004 zo6 vette cam and yellow springs with 2500 miles and a comp cams roller chain that i had given to me by a friend, $0. my truck is procharged, and most of the major mods are in my sig. my questions are- is it worth my time or should i pawn it off and get something else? if i install it what kind of gains or losses should i expect and in what rpm range? my avalanche is my dd and toy and sometimes sees heavy trailers. personally i would rather drop some cash on a different cam if the gains and loss of mpg arent worth my time. i dont wanna waste time and $ on a few hp, im into instant gratification lol. thanks

IMO I would just get a cam speced for your setup and do it right the first time. I think you will be alot happier with the gains.

I was gonna do this cam before but decided to go little bigger with more lift. That Avalanche is pretty heavy so you need more. I put a 220/220 .581 .581 112 in mine and it has good torque down low and all the way up top. Really surprised me cuz I thought it was gonna loose low end. It is a baby cam but I think its just right for what I want right now. The Z06 cam would probably give you bout roughly 10-15 hp over stock and better mileage. I actually gained MPG's with the Comp Cam. Hope this helps.

The ls6 cam is a great cam for boost..not sure if it was this site or performance trucks but a guys made some crazy numbers on a dyno with ls6 cam and boost in a 4.8. i used a 04 ls6 cam in my N/A 5.3 and then switched to a tr220 cam and didn't gain a dam thing at the drag strip and both felt like they made about same power

ya, 15 hp is not worth messin with. after the work and $'s spent getting it in the truck i would be less than happy. with the weight of my avalanche i would like some more umph off the line, the converter i got dose not feel like it has any stall so a cam that would only gain up top would hurt bad, i herd the zo6 cam makes good power down low?, but i guess thats why i started this thread. i read some posts saying some cams are making 100+ hp at the crank, is that even possible? thanks
