    Engine rebuild 2001 4.3 LU3 / upgrades - Advice

I have a tired 2001 Silverado 4.3 LU3 auto with 150k miles. Leaking oil, ticking in valve cover, oil in disturber etc..... I'm looking at buying a crate or rebuilt motor. (I don't have the time to do the rebuild myself) I'll pull and install new engine.

First question is there any recommendations on where to buy a engine?

Second question: simple power, economy, ect.. upgrades?

I would like to do the V8 upgrade but with a xmsn change for the bigger motor I just don't have the cash.

    Thanks,

    Carnell

I believe the below motor is what I have. (Mine is a 2001)

    1. It's a 4.3 not a 4.6.
    2. There is billions of them out there and they're the same from 1996-2006. So just get a junkyard replacement.

Do I have to do any changes to the computer if the engine is newer year? What price should I expect?

They're hardly worth anything. shouldn't be a problem finding one under 500

Easy swap? No computer / wiring harness changes?

    Simple performance upgrades before install?

    Thanks

You shouldn't have to change anything, just swap the thing in.

Performance upgrades....eh just tune the thing up and call it a day.

The things are tougher than snot, part of the reason you can get them so cheap.
