    Transmission Thoughts?

Just want your opinion if you were in my shoes:

1999 Silverado has a busted tranny.

2004 GMC tranny shifts fine but has 112K on it (My DD)

Being loaned money to get a tranny for the 99. BUT do i just put the ''new'' tranny in the 04 and put the 04's in the 99?

The 04 does have a aftermarket warranty that may cover the stock tranny if it goes.

So do I bother with the dual swap or just put the new one in the 99? I was looking at the Goodfellas tranny that is good up to 400 HP.

Thats probably what I would do so your daily has a new trans. It is twice the work though and if the other one goes out, you would be in need of changing it again. Its all in how much work you want to do.
5.3, small cam, 918 springs, 7.4 rods, walboro pump, Full built 4l60, 2800-3000 stall, TB spacer, long tubes, cat delete, single 3" exhaust with Aero bullit muffler. Flaco tuned.

i'd just buy a good trans with a shiftkit and servo for the 99, much easier and less work. if one truck is running fine, i'd leave it alone, that way there is no possibility of having two trucks down, you never know what'll happen when you start messing with stuff, lol.

depending on how much money you got to spend. Hodge's in connelsville does good magic with the 60s. Chris's tranny he has now is my old trans and Hodge built it. It has held up well over the years. Contact chris for imformation. fully built 60 for 800 for a race prep one. less money for a standard one

    I have 170k on my stock trans...and I don't drive nice.

These trannys are hit or miss. I wouldn't touch the 04

Agreed, I had 170k on my 97's stock 60E when I sold it, and it showed no signs of grenading... I'd just replace the 99's and save yourself the work... for now.
