    Rod bolts???

Guys, I've got to put a new oilpan on my truck and I want to put in some new rod bolts, my question is wat part number ARP do I need, and I'm wanting to put them in when I drop the pan, so any help would be much appreciated! I'm not sure if there's just one kind of bolt or many different ones, but the truck is an '02 silverado 5.3

I wouldn't do it. Chances are you might up more than you fix. I'd wait until the motor is apart to change rod bolts.

i hear many different opinions on rod bolts. i know i wanna spin my 5.3 to about 6800 so idk if the stock bolts would be enough. but then i hear alot of guys saying dont change them bc of messing up the bearings or something so idk what to do. sry for the thread jack

Its easy to do in the truck. Done plenty. The only tricky part is removing the old bolts and sleeve that pressed in the cap. Easiest way to do it is, after the cap is remove unthread both bolts and thread back in the opposite direction. Now take care and lightly tap the end of the bolt on a table with you hand around the bottom side so the head of the bolt doesn't hit the cracked rod part of the cap. Unthread the bolt and remove the sleeve. repeat 15 more times... Should take about 2hrs tops with pan removal. The bearing should stay in the cap, if its loose just make sure it seated properly before you put it back on....OH and make sure you get the cap right on the rod, they only go one way and if you mess up the rod is trashed...Just a FYI

Sorry, when I made the above post I didn't realize the Gen III uses screw in rod bolts, not the old stud and nut type set up. Changing rod bolts would be pretty easy.
