    4.8L Longevity

I just thought someone might find this info helpful/interesting.

I put my turbo on a few years back when my lil' 4.8L had a mere 22K. I just rolled over 51K and here are a few facts for anyone considering boost or anyone that just wants to make some good power/torque.

-Compression check revealed 160+ across all cylinders (Even #7 yes)

-Been running up to 13psi without a single knock

-ran at the track several times (only 1/8 mile unfortunatly)

    -Still has GREAT drivability

-STOCK internals....although I have upgraded the valve springs and pushrods

-Haven't been on the dyno lately but 11psi yielded 444hp/484tq

So how's everyone else doing on LS longevity? The biggest reason I ask is cuz so many people swear by Toyota/Nissan/Honda longevity but the same people don't take into account the kind of info I just posted.

GM LSx engines are mules if you put them together correctly. Ford modular engines are mules if you put them together correctly. New generation engines in general are so well desgined, they will last a long time.

I never said they were good for power. How many cop cars run modulars, and get the piss beat out of them? I rest my case.

I'm about to roll over 230,000 miles on my 99 5.3. Stock internals with your common bolt ons. Some day I'll add a cam and all that jazz and see where that puts me.
