    6.2 ?

ok what would be the easiest way to put a 6.2 in my 2003 rcsb truck? what all is needed for a swap to change it to non vvt. i might have my bike sold so im thinkin about just buying a ready to run 6.2 and put a cam in it and scrap the 5.3 idea. what is yalls input on the idea. im not going to go crazy with the motor just a mild cam,headers,e-fans, and cai. is there any threads or sites that show the non vvt swap.

call Thunder Racing tell them you need a "VVT DELETE KIT" it comes with a front cover, sprocket for about 120.00
how many rpms are you gonna spin the motor? the lifters are only rate for 5900rpm your choice.
you could either take it to a machine shop an have the reluctor wheel pressed off an a 24x one pressed on. 400-800 depending your market. dont think its that much bc i have no idea, id rather expect higher price than a low price an be upset.
or you can buy a 58x to 24x converter so you can run it in you 03.
you'll need a Dr X link or some crap to make your current harness work with the new 4 bolt TB. youll have to splice an extend your knock sensor harness so itll reach the sides of the block an drill an tap or your knock sensor.
im sure im forgetting something else but thats the big parts of it.
its a costly swap unless you decide another route.

also if you could get a harness an computer with the motor then send it to Nelson Performance an let Jon rework it so it'll work with your current tranny. your choice.

    good luck man

99-07 classic has knock sensors under the valley cover (1 wire)
07-10 GMT900 has knock sensors on the side of the block (2wires)

they have knock sensor an cam sensor extensions for the Gen III to Gen IV they're like 55.00 an look very well put together IMO.

if you swap to a 24x reluctor ring you dont need the 58x to 24x converter (275.00) so weigh your options.

if i was you id get on youtube an look for the guy who swapped in a 6.2 into a SCSB 4x4 an see what all he did. i know he used the converter im talking about, its mounted on the firewall in the video.

i kinda wish i would have kept my 01 so i could swap in a 6.2 an boost it.

if you're camming the motor youll also need valve springs, pushrods, an id advise to change those poo lifters to the LS7 lifters an trays. also when you pull your cam you'll have a poo style tensioner so id change to a LS2 dampener imo.

ask anymore questions an if i can answer them i will.

what company makes the harnesses and converter. im thinkin about just keeping it stock for now and forgetting the cam just motor and regular boltons. weighing my options. thought about 6.0 with l92 heads but by the time i did that for a few more dollors i could have a complete 6.2

the 6.0 would be cheaper than the 6.2 as far as purchase price. the mods will still cost the same amount.
if i was you id cam it while its out the truck SO much easier bc you already have to tear the fans/radiator out so why do it twice?

this is the only place ive found that makes the converter.

not realy i can buy a complete low milage 6.2 from intake with injectors and throttle body with alot of the harness to oil pan for $1500. stock l92 or ls3 heads are close to a grand for the pair. then all your other mods.

thats a steal imo. but why are you buying heads? the L92 heads flow great for what they are an the LS3 heads is the samr as the L92 just sodium filled valves an better springs.
the L92 6.2 is rated to spin to 5900rpm vs an LS3 thats rated to spin to 6600

its your choice to run it how you want but hood luck tuning that VVT, id rather a normal cam

Why not just toss a lq4 or lq9 in there? Anything will be a big improvment over the 4.3.....
