    Thumbs down flatlander racing

ordered a forged rotating assembly from the company thinking it was an american made product. the only thing american made was the pistons from wiseco, the K1 rods and crank had china stickered all over the plastic wrap.

the customer service sucks unless they are trying to get money from you. sent them an e-mail at the beginning of the week with no response to my problem.

    problem?

they sent me the wrong rings! the wiseco rings are supposed to be for a 3.905 bore, even the package they came in said that. not sure if it was a friday at the factory but some how the wrong rings got in my package.
how did i find this out? by ordering a new set from summit for a cylinder i messed up. i never used file fit rings before, so i payed no attention to the huge amount of material i had to file off. the whole time the gap between the ring and cylinder wall had me second guessing myself. kinda glad i messed up one of the rings now.

    bad ring from flatlander

    good ring from summit

    good vs bad

    bad ring untouched

filed ring with ring to cylinder wall gap

flatlander package on left, summit on right

Cant blame flatlander for mispackaged rings. Yeah, thats excessive material to remove from a set of file fit rings. I think they normally leave .035" excess material on file fit rings. Don't worry about the China tags, they're everywhere these days. K1 parts are so inexpensive you have to know they're from China. PHR did a buildup with the K1 parts and never once complained about the quaility, supposedly they're Callies budget line.

not really blaming them for mispacked rings, just their poor customer service in resolving this problem. when i went over the credit limit on my card, they had an e-mail in my inbox the next day. it's been 5 working days and i have no response from the e-mail i sent them.
