862 heads

I've got the opportunity to pick up a set of 862 heads for a good price. I know that these heads flow pretty well but with higher compression. My question is can they be made to flow as good as 243 heads or close to it? And would it be worth it for me to do that? I'm only planning on lightly modding my truck, cam, head work, LT headers, 3000 stall, gears, intake and injectors.

They can be made to flow over 300 cfm, that's plenty.

Alright, well next question is what do i need to do to make them flow good enough for what I'm running? I'm not looking to spend a fortune, but do i need to do a port/polish and a 3 angle valve job?

Yea, basic port job should do you just fine.

I'm sure a local shop that does head work could prolly do it for $400-$500.

thats what mine cost, so that should be what your lookin at.

Do I need to change the valves or should I do anything to the heads other than P/P

The valves can be anywhere from 7-10 cfm better flow than stock ones, and probably that much more at every lift point. That, and lighter ones are better for mechanical weight reduction.
