2003 ECSB Throttle Body

The throttle body/harness in my 03 ECSB 4.8 is on its last life, and they need replacing. The dealer was kind enough to offer to do it for 800 dollars, but Id rather do the work myself and upgrade while Im at it.

What are my options for an upgraded T/B in my truck?

Wow, what a bunch of rip-off artists. There can't be much wrong with it, they are very simple. What could be wrong with the harness?

I don't think a larger TB would be right, if that's where you're going

I went to the 80mm BBK and I was happy with the results. Make sure to get a new gasket upon replacement.

Thanks for the suggestion, do you have a link to the BBK TB? Also is that a DBW TB or a cable TB?

Is the '03 a DBW/ETC or cable? If it's cable you can grab a throttle body off any LQ4 (6.0L HD Truck) as it's an 80mm (5.3 uses 75) and will bolt right on. If it's a DBW/ETC then you can grab a throttle body off any LS6 and some trucks came with them (I believe LQ9's). If you want bigger and if your current setup is DBW/ETC then you can grab an 85mm throttle body off any '97+ Corvette. Any of these could be found for cheap in a junk yard.

I do believe that its DBW - so best I can tell. Especially with the need for the TB to be replaced as well as the associated pigtail.

Alright, do a search of the junkyards for a Corvette or TBSS throttle body. Corvette will have the 85mm and anything else will have 80mm.
