    tb mm to cfm

    I've seen alot about tb size in mm but does anyone know how to convert that to cfm. I'm just bench racing and askin questions. The reason i ask is because i've seen people on here running the edelbrock intake with an elbo and stock throttle body. Would there be any gain in performance to just run a universal 4bl throttle body that flows 2000 cfm. You can get them in several diffrent cfm sizes and has the gm iac and tps. Also edelbrock makes a dual quad intake to. Is it possible to run 2 tb's with that intake.

    no just say a 2001 chevy truck with a v8 and dbc throttle body mine would not be as simple because it would be dbw.

    The reason I ask, is what kind of setup do you have planned in order to take advantage of a setup like that?

    i think hes just wondering, not necessarily planning for a build. just trying to learn. id kinda like to know too, what kind of flow would you gain from going from say a 87mm to a 92mm tb?

    im just trying to learn. would there be any gain with a setup like this. i know its for a diffrent engine but using it for a refrence. imagine it on an edelbrock victor for an ls1. i got to thinkin about this when i looked at the lsxrt intake from fast. that intake is a grand and the throttle body is like 600 if i remember right for the 102mm throttle body. the edlebrock intake is like 350 or so and the 4bbl throttle body is like 4 to 5 hunded depends on the size. i figured you could get more cfm of flow with a more direct flow path. im also looking at something that can be upgraded and down graded fairly easy. ive found 4bbl or 2bbl tb from 750 to 2200 cfm that all bolt to the 4bbl intake flange. i was thinkin small cfm for mild motor and be able to upgrade to a huge throttle body with upgrades. that way instead of having to buy a diffrent intake and tb with upgrades just change tb.

    Ok--a couple things. Larger TB is gunna + more cfms. Not sure on the conversion.

    The "stock throttle body" you talk about is the LS2/3 90mm TB. Any time you get more air into the motor--it will make more power. But you need to complete the whole equation...more air, efficient flow to the cylinders, good combustion, and efficient exhaust. The Edelbrock intake/elbow tends to like worked heads and a high rpm operating range. You will end up losing some low end power, but will gain more up top than what you lost down low.

    Yes, you can run 2 TBs on the dual quad intake.

    Read that and it will help you under stand the difference going from a 78mm to a 90mm will make. Also the size of the t body doesnt always mean it flows better. A stock Ls6 intake (78mm) flows better than a LS2 (90mm) But a Ls6 intake with a 90mm t body will flow even better. The edelbrock intake with the carb type tbody is popular for NA/nitrous guy. There are quite a few 6.0 with boltons/heads/cam and that intake setup hitting 500+whp through autos and m6's.

    +1 Think of an engine as an air pump the faster and more efficiently you can get more air in, prosseced and out the more power your gonna make....in theory
    03' sierra Z71 slt ecsb 5.3 throttle body coolant bypass, k&n complete intake kit, descreened mass airflow, dynatech long tube headers into dynatech high flow cats with y pipe into magnaflow split duals out the back.

    A 408 stroker motor only needs about 900 cfms N/A... motors only need so much
