I am looking at getting a 145 amp alternator to replace my 105 amp for e-fan and asp pulley install, and was wondering if a 145 from an 03 would be compatable or connect up in the place of my 105 amp on my 01 2500hd?

    Thanks,

    Jason

I'm running an 145 amp 2003 Alternator on my base model 99 Silverado with no issues.
As far as upgrading to an 145 amp from a 105, the 145 pulley sits approx 3/8 taller than the 105. I have a UD ASP crank pulley and left my belt (060-895) on with the 145 and no problems. I did however put the 1/2" longer (060-900) on to be on the safe side. Those are gates/Napa Belts.

I also upgraded the 8 gauge wire that goes from the back of the alternator to the red junction box. I had some 4 gauge lying around with 3/8 crimps so i replaced it.theres alot more juice flowing now out of that Alt. Don't know if it makes a differance or not but it looks beefy.

I thought some HDs came with a 130A stock?

Anyway, it's a wise upgrade. I went to a 130A a while back (like early '03) on my Z71 and never looked back. One of the better things I've done for it.

I think it does around 60-70A at idle over 45A with the 105A unit...
