    Motors same size just diff year would I still need a retune

    Depends. A 2003 5.3L and a 2004 5.3L should have a different tune. The 2003 is not Flex Fuel and the 2004 is FF.

    What motors are you working with?

    Are you swapping EVERYTHING over or just motor?

    from 01 to 04, that also changes to DBW & has a different harness/computer, from what i remember
    00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake

    If you are doing just a stock 01 with a stock 04 motor only, you should not need a retune. And this is just for a motor only swap. This is assuming you are retaining the intake, all accessories, TB, fuel system, etc.
