    My new fish tank

    Been working on my new fish tank for about 2 months now.

    60 gal 36" X 18" X 24"h
    High Tech
    High Light
    Co2 Injected


    Just waiting on plants to fill in now. Tank's been running for
    about 3 weeks, seems to be doing good.







    Under the hood

    DIY 30+ gal sump/filter - UV light - Computer controlled.








    DIY metal/cherry stand made from 3" sqr tube and 2" angle iron on top
    with cherry plywood inserts







    Big daddy water filter makes weekly water changes and tops offs a breeze.
    20" Big Blue whole house water filter with 5 micron carbon block filter good
    for about 40,000 gallons at real flow levels of 4gpm !!!!!

    Getting started hard core on my 100 gallon Discus tank for the den now.
    Going to put this one to shame. Should be sweeeet

    thats a nice setup man me and my dad used to build tanks like that years ago we made a 700 gallon for the record bass in mississippi like 13 years ago and made most of bthe tanks out here for the pet shops

    but ill give you a A PLUSE ....mostly on the filter setup and the watter fill

    you would make nemo and his buddies happy hahaha

    Thanks the sump took some trial and error. but works flawless
    and bone dead silent. No gurgling or water fall noises. All you hear is a
    slight hum from the return pump

    thats hard to accomplish. i have a 180 gallon african cichlid tank here at my office. I wish i had a place to do a nice reef tank again

    hell yea ..the best thing about yours is it will virtually run its self just a quick glance at it and thats it...i have a similar sump filter and i clean it maybe three times a year and i still have clear clear watter and in the long run there cheaper than messing around with filter replace ments that dont work...the best filter is bacteria...the good pet shops will give you dirty watter to put in your filter to give it a jump start

    It took about 2 weeks for the bacteria blooms to settle down and get
    the filter up and running on all cylinders.

    The soil I used is for planted tanks and dumps a bunch of ammonia and nutrients into the tank
    first time you get it wet too. Kinda helps filter get started but looks like poop for about 2 weeks.
