I was fliping through a magazine and saw SLP's RCSB red silverado with a blown 5.3, heads/cam, 3.73's. It wasnt a bad article BUT at the end of it it said that it doesnt get TOO bad gas mileage.....WELL.....I was just wondering what kinda mileage you guys get with just heads and a cam. If some of the blown guys read this, I'd like to see what kinda mileage you guys are knocking down on the highway as well. If you can give some insight on your mods as well as gears that you run out back, that would be great....THANKS

Well if you can keep your foot out of them, economy should stay the same or get better if the cam is matched to the heads. It's all about volumetric efficiency.

I've heard people with mild 212° intake dur cams actually pick up MPG as their truck moves easier.

I get around 16-17 mpg with my 2001 ext cab silverado 5.3
It has 3.42 gears but bigger tires and rims.
