The easiet way to do it is to gut the cats with a saw-saw. I always would cut each side of the cat with this so it would be easy to weld it back up. Well first start by cutting each pipe in/out of cat. When the cat is on the floor get a big hammer and a crowbar. Make sure you have some thick gloves on and beat the crap out of the filter stuff in the cat. Once its all cleaned out make sure you line it back up exactly where it was and weld it together. If you do it this way atleast a cop can look under the truck and see some 'cats' otherwise your really asking for a big ticket... As far as o2's you will have to get a tune so your computer will not use the rear o2's anymore, if you dont then the truck will run like crap. Ive heard of someone using 02 simulators on the trucks but ive never used them... Good luck man

only bad thing is if a cop looks under your truck an sees no cats BIG TROUBLE..

If a cop can look under your truck, it is TOO HIGH.

my goal...him to see the cats WITHOUT looking haha

question: WHY? they don't really effect sound OR performance, and delete emissions by like 20x. The 2hp you are going to gain isn't REALLY worth making our environment any worse.

(I have a 79 z28 without cats...if they are bad, im all for pulling them and putting 02 sim, but if they are working fine, it seems like a lot of work for no benefit and bad consequences for environment)
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

Not unless the shop is willing to risk a huge fine.

Another thing you can do is have a shop weld a 3 bolt flange on both ends of the cats and the pipes it will connect to. Do the same thing on an equal length pipe. That way you can take them on and off at will.

Yeah, true... But they do have a mirror on a stick. I guess if they get mad enough then they could allways get the sniffer after the exaust. That would suck!

The only reason I ever took the cats of was for sound. The sound is a big difference but no hp gains really
