is the 145 amp a GM alternator or a different brand? Is there anything that can get damaged by having more amps? it only puts out as much as it needs correct? not sure last time i looked at upgrading i could never make a decision because some people said it would fit and others said it wouldnt. Does anyone have a part number to the 145?

How many watts are you running. That's the question here. A good rune of thumb on alternators is 10 amps per 100 watts. Therefore, you can safely run 1500 or so watts off that 145 amp alternator without stressing it. I suggest you do the BIG 3 upgrade anyway and an extra battery if you plan on running large amounts of power. Feel free to PM me. I've been running a 3500 watt system for abuot 3 years now.

What amp is the alternator off a denali? Isn't it bigger than a stock alternator on a 5.3 truck?

Yes. Mine is 145 stock on the Denali (so would almost all utilities with rear AC).

I have a 140 swap on my Blazer too 'cause of the giant Flex-a-lite fan on it.
