Found a 6.0 at the yard
Stopped by the 2 local salvage yards today just to see if they had any engines. Well well well. They have 2 6.0's. One still in the truck that I can get for $900 -$250 for my core 4.8. The other's already pulled but I just need the block so I can get it bored and stroke it. I know the one in the truck runs, but I think it's a 2001. If I remember right ya'll've said to stear clear of 2000 and 2001 6.0's right??? The other I'm not sure on the year. 2000 I think he said. It (2000) doesn't come with accesories for $500. The one in the truck has a 4l80, but it's the 4WD $800. Transfer case, output shaft, and tail housing would need to be changed right?
They also have 2 5.3's One's a 2002 (I think) and the other's a 2004 out of a tahoe. Didn't get a price on those cause I wanna 6.0
6.0's can be bored and stroked to a 408 right?

99-00 is the 6.0 that is more difficult to deal with. 2001 is alright. The 2001 with harness for $650 is the best deal out of those.

I might see about pulling the trigger on this and just doing a straight swap. Save the engine work for later. Give him my 4.8 for core, but I'd still be trannyless. unless it's possible to make the 4wd 80e to a 2wd 80e by just changing the tail housing and output shaft?
