they are. but these cops that are on the highway up here have gotten insane in the last few months, the highway I was on the limit goes from 90 to 100 sometimes without being posted and naturally since its a 2 laner you have people clipping along pretty good like I was but I got over in the passing lane to let someone merge but I was the only one in that lane for some distance so I stood out like a sore thumb, DING he got me. So I need a radar detector so I know when I can be a courteous driver

i use the passport 8500 along with the escort laser shifters.... they work well...
im gonna upgrade to the 9500 and the new shifter system in the near future... passport makes some good stuff thats for sure
