new or used? just the STS or with supporting mods (injectors, fuel pump, tune...)? You can find used ones for around $2k or so. New they are $4k.

Well yes, i was hoping to get away with an sts kit and a tune.
I just want a little extra, not trying to race anyone just more low end .

You can get away with a stock setup, a tune, and about 3-4psi. Not sure if it's worth it or though.
If you just want a little bit more, than what you have is enough to support low boost.
If your truck has flex fuel injectors, you definitely have enough, but no more than 5psi and stock or low shift points and a tune.

A turbo is probably not the way to go if you are looking for more low end especially if you are only going to run 3-4 psi. A supercharger would be better for the low end grunt that you are looking for but will cost as much as a turbo. You should get a custom tune and have Allen spec you a cam with some low end. Gears and headers would be the next step and you would notice a big difference for about half the cost of a turbo.

If you buy the basic parts, the rest is just fab work.
Buy the turbo, oil system for the turbo, wastegate, injectors, fuel pump and a tune. You can weld a flange on the stock exhaust to mount the turbo. And all you should need is cold side pipes, couplings, and tapping the oil in. The rest of it is just time. IMO.
