    SES Light

Last night I jumped off a camry with my truck and when I was going to cut mine off I noticed the SES light was on. It took three attempts for the car to crank, but on the second try the car made a noise like the belt slipped or something. I had to drive the truck this morning about thirty miles to work and it drove fine. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't have anything to read a code with, so I guess I'd have to take it to the shop monday to see if it just needs to be reset?

Did you hook up the jumper cables to your battery or the little red box and ground to the piece of metal by the alternator? I've heard jumping off the battery can affect the computer. I dont know the truth in this tho.

Go to AutoZone and have them scan it to see that code it throws...

Tried that first thing. I had it reset already and it hasn't come back. Just hoping it was a fluke or something. I need to get a handheld that will read codes and clear them.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t do that! As an Automotive Electrical Rebuilder I have seen more harm than good coming from AutoZone. I'm not saying that there bad or anything but those people are hired in and aren’t trained on the equipment. I have had people come in with cars that the alternator went out on, they drove it to AutoZone and they hooked the equipment up wrong and fried there computer. Plus they jump people with dead batteries and tell them "it’s all good now." An alternator isn't a battery charger it’s a battery maintainer! Sorry just my

P0300 is random cylinder misfire. Barely a place to start.
