    ticking noise when first started

what up everyone so I have a 2001 P/U with a 5.3L and when I start it in the morning it makes a louding ticking noise sounds like it might be a lifter but I am not sure. I have heard that this is a normal thing for these engines but if so is there anything you can do to get rid of it. Any help with this will be appreciated Thanks

Unbolt your valve covers and coil packs. Check to see if a rocker is loose. If not, get brake cleaner or some type of safe cleaner and spray it through the holes through the pushrods. You can leave your valve covers off and let it run for a second and see if oil is flowing correctly. They might not be pushing oil up to the rockers causing a ticking sound. I had this problem when I did my cam install. If it is neither it could be a lifter problem or a broken spring.

More than likely it might be a clogged up pushrod. Easy to fix though. If its a loose rocker which I doubt it is, make sure you have a torque wrench to properly tighten the rocker

go to parts store get a bottle of risolone something like that, comes in a yellow bottle, pure it in before next oil change then change oil ... this will solve your lifter issue if you indeed have one sticking..
