I have a 2000 silverado 1/2 ton. Want to swap to a 6.0l. Anyone done this swap or know anything about 4l60e trans capability & pcm- do I need a 6.0l pcm? Is trans. controlled w/ engine pcm?

Lots of people have done this (if you already have a 4.8 or 5.3). Direct swap and bolt up as long as you get a 2000 6.0(I think)and up. somewhere in there they changed the crank and you want the newer one.
Stock pcm will run it, no problem. For optimum performance, have Allen tune it.

If you can pull the engine you can do the swap. That is the hardest part.

Here's a little tip, remove part of the steering column that is in the way of the driver's side engine mount. It makes it a lot easier to get the engine in and out.

    thanks l82gofast,

oh ya, a tune will really make it run, hehe..

Wanting to do this swap as well.
Where should I start looking for this motor?

I want forged internals (pistons, rods, etc.). Who sells these as well?
I also want to cam it. Which cam is preferred...I need it streetable....its an everyday driver.

What all will need to be bought to switch over to the 6.0 (LQ9)?

Allen, can you help me with all this?

That's good info to know! Thanks.

Where should I begin my search for one? I've checked eBay with no luck (used keywords 6.0 engine, LQ9, 6.0 motor, looked in the engine category, etc.

What aftermarket parts (details) are good with the 6.0?
