I've got a 90 model and it has a 700R4 / 4L60. My father in law has a 93 and it also has a 700R4/4L60. I know the first year the electronic 4L60E came out was 93, but I think that might have been for the camaro / corvette / firebird only. I'm sure someone else can say for sure.

96 was first year of the new vortec engine, so my guess would be that was first year of 4l60e. :-D

I believe around '92/'93 the 4L60E came out in the C4 along with the LT1. Went into the F-bod in '94 also.

'96 was the first year of the Vortec truck motors, no more TBI junk anymore. That sounds about when the 4L60E went into the trucks.

During the years LOTS of changes have been made to the TCC on the 4L60Es also.

    my truck is a 93 w/t long bed and it has a 4.3tbi v-6
and the tranny is a 4l60e

im thinking the truck was made closer to the end of the 93 models,
right as the 94 parts started to come out

but im not sure, don't really know how i could find out
but most tranny shops/people i have talked to said that
most of the 93's have the 700r4/4l60 tranny

also the 700r4/4l60's came out in mass in 82 but i have heard that
their was a few models to get the tranny in 78 but it was more
for testing reasons then anything else
don't know if it went into production into 82 tho
    new project
    37 m-series 3/4 ton chevy truck,
