    Broken motor

Well it broke. One night out playin i made a pass with a cobra on the freeway and it started knockin real bad and died. The next day when I was pullin plugs i noticed my mass air sensor wire danglin. The clip was broke and somehow i over looked it and it musta fell off. I wasn't watching my wideband when i was racin the cobra so i guess it leaned out.
Any way so far the plan is to bore it to a 5.7 with forged 9:1 pistons and rods. As far as I know the stock crank is good to about 550 so im thinkin ill stick with that. As far as the top if the heads are effed find some ls6 or maybe lq4 or 9 heads. ill cam it and do an ls6 intake too. after all that i don't think it will take very much boost to reach 550 hp. Unless I end up coming up with more money to do a crank too, but I still wanna do a converter and trans. What do you guys think?

Hope the heads are OK for money's sake and hope the cylinder walls are OK after a meltdown.

you definitly do NOT want to neglect the trans. What ever you end up doing, it would be a good idea to set aside some money for the torque converter and trans. Just call FLT

lq9 heads are the same as lq4 so don't let someone try to rip you off on that. I would go with a truck intake for more tq, the new l92 is sweet, but you would need l92 heads to match i believe. Good luck on the new build

damn i bet you wish you would have fixed that broken clip now!!! bro that sux!!

grab some 6.0 heads, that'll lower the cr down quite a bit, not foresure exactually how much, but i just read on pt.net that 6.0 heads on a stock 5.3 for forced induction is sweet, since it lowers the cr already!!! anyway good luck and hope all works out well for ya...

Thanks guys. Yeah I've had to learn the hard way I guess but putting this motor together will be a good experience. I'll keep everyone updated.
