I got and installed my Z06 cam tune from Allen today. I kept the straight 93 tune but told him to go really aggressive on it. Well, I got what i asked for, lol! The cam doesnt go in for another 8 days so I have time to break this tune in. It already feels better than my past tune and I havent even had it in for 15 miles!

I'm not ruling that one out in the future! If Allen ever pulls his in the GTO I've already let him know I am interested. Shoot the tune itself without the cam has me smiling from ear to ear! I'm excited to see what happens when we get the cam in with it!

not likely. zo6 cam is pretty mild so nothing major was done to the tuning. im suprised he dosnet have any problems with pinging or anything. i wouldnt have put the tune in until i had the cam in but thats just me.

Actually I got no pinging at all from this tune, I just had Allen go really aggressive on the timing on this tune, thats part of the reason it felt stronger. The shift points were off and it was running further on the rich side b/c it was set for the ZO6 cam. Just stick with the tune you have and get Allen to bump up the timing a bit if you feel your truck can take more.

Bud8, the cam is in!!!! I have to get the tuning nailed down before I get some track or dyno results. It was running extremely lean when I data logged it but it was 106* out and my intake temps were hitting up to 130* at times. I'm not sure if thats what was causing it to be lean and get up to 6* of knock retard in a couple places. So I am going to wait till it gets down to at least 85 and relog and see what happens.

I would love to put a cam in my truck. When I messed up the motor while back and took it back to chevy place for new one, one of the mechanics tried to tell a Z06 cam would wake it up but I didnt want to worry with it at the time. Do cams with a good tune really wake up these 5.3's what kind of h.p gains. And what do yall think would be good for my setup, I want it to still be very drivable. What kind of price range to.

It will still be very driveable! Think about how driveable a corvette is! It will still idle the same too. If its tuned by Allen he will make sure you still maintain your driveablility while gaining maximum power!
