How to ship engine and trans...?

Looks like YellowDemon is going to get my engine and trans...can you guys give me some advice on shipping? Who to use, how to secure it to a pallet, etc.? I know it sounds like a simple question but I've never done it and I don't want to screw anything up...

Yeah, use an oversized pallet and then brace it with 2x4s. Just remember--the more bracing you do, the heavier it is and the more money it will cost to ship it. Once you get it secured on the pallet, build a lightweight wood cage for it and wrap some chciken wire mesh around the outside of the cage...

Use 2x4s to support it then use ratchet straps to tie it down, then seran wrap it. A cage isnt needed as it will be picked up with a fork lift and nothing stacked on top of it. Ive shipped 2 trans like that and 2 motors with no problems. Just make sure you reinforce it under the heavier points so the pallet doesnt crack.

Here's how I do mine and it's through Watkins Trucking. Make sure and screw the motor mounts down to 4X4's with lag bolts and flat washers. $150 delivered to a shop with forklift and $300 to residential without. The price might have gone up a little by now.

shipping the motor an trans will be around 650 to 800. try ABF frieght or R & L carriers. they are the cheapest. only way to ship them is on a pallet, drain all fluids and you have to wrap it in card board. It is cheaper if you have it dropped off at a business and some places charge a fee for lift gates. if its not wrapped with cardboard then they wont take it.

I just found out that Watkins is now Fed Ex so forget the old price I posted unless you have a shipping account with them.

im sure shipping prices are going to take another hike if gas prices continue to stay so high.
