    cams

hi im new here just have a few questions hopefully u guys have the answers.
well im planing on buying a 5.3 from the junkyard go through make sure its fine and everything. and put headers and port the heads then through a cam in there. well i found the vinvi 080 and looks like a nice cam will i have to put a stall on my trans 700r4 by the way this is goin in a 93 k1500. then i might switch it to a carb will the cam work with the carb or is it a computer controled and not compatable? if there is a cam that u guys think would be better let me know. it will be a DD and want some torque to play with and ill be towing occationaly but just like a trailer with 2 atvs and a big generator and some stuf in the bed not a whole lot.

    thanks.

I wouldn't think there would be anything wrong with a 080 Vinci Cam...but I would try looking at their 112 cam. It would sound better and give better performance given the higher overlap and lower LSA... But make sure you buy some hardened pushrods and valve springs to go along with the cam...

Yeah, you would need to stall it...a 2600 would be sufficient for the lower lift and duration of that cam...

You could prolly get a 5.3 just as cheap there once you consider shipping.

    It was worth a thought.

If you are gunna cam your motor, I would highly suggest doing a 2600 stall--that is a great DD stall and it retains great everyday driveability... That stall would always keep you in the fat of your torque curve, making you utilize your motor's new found power better. Since you are towing with this truck, you need to make sure to be running a tranny cooler. I would suggest a 40,000 GWVR cooler...
