    Larger Valves in a 5.3L

Anybody here ever install the larger 2.0" intake valves(or LS1/LS6 heads with 2.0" intake valves) on a standard bore 4.8l or 5.3l? Gm claims the LS1/LS6 heads will not work on the 4.8/5.3 due to the bore bieng to small. Anyone with experience on this? Looking to have a set of 862 casting 5.3l heads gone through and would like to bump the intake valve to the 2.0". Are the valve angles different on the 5.3 heads from the LS1/6 maybe? Any insight would sure be appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

Awsome- Do you remember the casting number heads you had? Mine are the 862 casting. I tore them down today and was looking and measuring and wasnt as worried as much as to valve to cylinder cleareance but for room on the stock 1.89" intake valve seat. The exhaust valve only clears the edge of the combustion chamber/cylinder bore by a half a millimeter or less, while the intake valve has much more room, about 3-4 millimeters or so. Do you remember if you used the stock valve seats or did you have to install different ones? The sodium LS6 valves are exactly what I want to install. Thanks for your help!! Dave.

The heads I have are casting 706. Stock seats were used but I had a couple of seats replaced due to a mishap at the machine shop. Who are you gonna have do the machine work?

J-Team, a local machine shop here in casper. He is one of the best in the state. (Wyoming) Has done lots of work for my buddy and has done exceptional work every time. Ordered a single LS6 Intake valve on thursday to take in with them and we will wait and see what he can do. Was also going to see about getting them milled .030 to get my compression up a bit. By my figure .030 should put me right around 10.1-
