truck is getting hot???
i have had some issues getting my e-fan to engage when it is supposed to, but, for now, i have it hotwired so that it stays on the whole time i am driving. even with the fan on, at idle, the truck gets up to around 215-220.
luckily, the light has turned green or i have noticed it getting warm so i started driving, so i dont know if it will just keep getting hotter.
once in motion, it will cool down to about 185-190. but if i get caught at a stop light for a few minutes, it will creep back up to around 220.
the thermostat was supposed to be a 180, and the fan was set to engage at 180 also, but i must have the wiring messed up.
does this sound like the water pump could be going out? if the thermostat wasnt working the truck wouldnt cool down to below 190 while driving like it does. would it?
thanks for any help

It sounds like the fans are not running at 100%. You mention "e-fan"--as in one fan. What size? How much CFM does it pull? Since you ahve a 5.7L motor, you should try to be pulling around 5500 CFM. Is the fan pushing or pulling the air? It should be pulling the air from the outside into the engine bay. What brand of e-fan is it?
It should be wired so that there is a RED power wire coming from the battery into a 40 Amp fuse relay. From the relay, it should go to the Red power wire for the fans. Then the BLACK ground wire going from the fans should be grounded to properly or just run it back to the Negative (-) side of the battery. If you want, you can hard wire a toggle switch so you can flip it on from inside the cab. Make sure you get a toggle switch that can handle 40 Amps, or you will burn up the toggle switch. You can wire in the switch after the relay on the Red (power) wire to the switch, then back out to the Red wire going to the fan.
I highly doubt the water pump is going out. It is just that the fan isn't pulling the right amount of air or it's running at 60%...

it is a 16" sinlgle fan and i know it isnt anywhere close to 5500cfm, probably around 2000cfm.
guess i will be looking from some new fans asap.
and thanks for the wiring info, i will check out what i have done and try to fix the problems.

that could be most of the problem but after swapping 5.3 to 6.0 i had same problems for temps. come to find out i had air pockets in the block i even raised the passenger side and bled air off took hoses off did everything i possibly could; then one day i forgot to tighten the resevior cap and when i went to parts store noticed water dripping, tightened the cap and hadnt had a temp over 175 since.... but i do have the 34 in radiator and dual fans ...
