I think you win some, you lose some.
Pulled the tranny this week to throw in some goodies. Naturally, it had its ups and downs.
Wins:
Pulling the trans made the shift kit/servo infinitely easier. For two of four nights, I didn't have to lay on my back in ATF. I was able to knock down the kit in about 3 hours one night. Drove down the road a couple miles today and everything seems to work cool.
1-2 shift is pure glory, and I was only at part throttle. Not bad for a guy who's never been inside an automatic tranny before.
I'm also delighted that I chose to change the converter at the same time. Doing this twice would probably kill me.
Issues:
I broke one of the plastic tabs that hold the shifter cable in place on the trans. I have to get out and click it in park by hand now, cussing as knuckles contact hot catalytics. Need to fix that.
One of my lines(upper) is leaking(badly) where it clicks in. Its just crooked, I think I can straighten it out a little or get another.
I have a faint exhaust leak. That's what happens when you break 6 of 8 studs that hold the y-pipe.
Likely, something just needs tightening.
Other than that, I need to fix my line, break-in the yank, and find out what its like to let 'er rip now! It blows when you have to wait after an install.
I like to talk if you can't tell.
