I have a '93 GMC Sierra with a 4.3. I have run across a deal from a junkyard for a 2001 5.3 liter(yard going out of bus.) Is there a place I can get info on this swap?

Okay Thanks Guys!
1) The engine is complete, including belts, hoses, the computer, everthing! The truck it came out of is readily available.
2) Will I be able to fabricate or make the 5.3's motor mounts work?
3) The yard will throw in a 4L60E in the deal real cheap (they are going out of business) will this bolt to the motor/flex plate?
4) Will my drive shaft work?
5) WIRING!!! How is this 5.3 computer going to work on my '93??
6) Air intake? Should I rob the stuff off the wreck and make it work for now?
7) My brother-in-law owns a shop and he is letting us utilize his facility this weekend. He has thrown in one of his best mechanics and he will help if needed. This is a father-son project so we are pretty excited. His shop can do it all (including custom exhaust). What are the chances that we can knock this out in one weekend?
2) Plates like the ones s&p sells work nice, i believe gmcwantsls1 has them or made some similar, not much to them.
3)yes it should
4) if you use the plates to change the location where the motor mounts, you'll either need a longer or shorter one. if you plan on getting some power out of it, go with 3" HD Aluminum at least. im going to use Denny's
5)the expensive answer to this one is Painless Harness($500) stand alone. the cheap answer would be to splice the existing 5.3 harness like allen and a few others did. that would require some dedicated wiring time.
6) you can make your own pretty cheap. 3" pipin and a K&N conical air filter will out-do the $200+ air intakes people sell.
7)it can be done in a weekend. just do some research and a little reading(tech/swap tips in the refernce section here) and it will go smooth. the thing is to anticipate the little hangups.
GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for the reply sleeper![]()
WE have the motor and tranny at the shop. It looks like it is just the top bolt holes on the 460LE tranny that do not match. I can't see that as a big deal.
The plates for the motor mounts, S&P who is that? Do they have a web site ot contact number?
I called Painless. They have a part number for the harness but it is not available yet. They said "a couple of months". I think we are going to wait for the harness.
I can bend a 3" pipe but what about the MAF sensor location. Do you use 3" rubber hose to connect to the filter, MAF TB etc.
Thanks for the help. I'm going to use the next month or so to get the parts together.
Thanks again.
