We are all grown ups, so again, if you post here, is because you agree. Ignorance of the Law Is No Excuse for Breaking It.

I don't like the owner of this site as many of us here !

Yes he responded, yes he is knowledgeable, yes I came in this site because of Greg (redheartbeat). Very knowledgeable !

We all exchange Tech info. Is great that in this Economy ppl have so much work and be blessed !

Non of that is the real argument here.

He can be posting his knowledge as a good samararitan with a "Jakesnake" nick and that will be aright according to the rules !

He can own a shop, he can own a Dealer, he can own warever, but rules are rules.

He can now use he free will, and not post anymore here...up to him.

But that will tell me what kind of person we are dealing with.

I have a CKPerformnce Transmission, and I invited Christ to post here........he did not, bcause of the rules !

If he is in the world of 80E, he must know Christ or heard of him, because he was also involved in the Transbrake development system !

Then again, don't come here rating about this issue, because almost all the sites I know, have the same rule ! maybe he doesn't know that, because he is full at work all the time !
I'm well aware of CKPerfprmance and his 4L80e Transbrake. It is a major part of the reason I designed mine. I get lots of work from his former customers.

I hope you have better luck with his than I did or most others have.

I posted on LS1Tech for years before coming a sponsor. It's also a high traffic board that I felt was worth sponsoring.

A bit of a history lesson on 4L80E transbrake.
I suspect you don't have a transbrake since your unit is still alive.

    http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/automa...ransbrake.html

    My experience in the beginning.
I bought a transbrake from Trinity for a cutomer's transmissions. Miserable failure. Car never got 20 miles on it with that POS. Enough said.

I bought a CKPerformance transbrake to get this guy going. I bought several of these.
I've ended up buying them ALL back from the customers or replacing them with mine.
I fought with it for about a year trying to keep clutches in the transmission, fighting a no 1-2 shift issue at WOT, and other "quirks". Despite is all I still remained a CK customer.

I bought two TH400 transbrakes from CK that caused the customers cars to lockup on a 2-3 shift. NOT good. Not good for the customer's safety, drivetrain, or my hair.
I was repeatedly told they tested good, nothing as wrong, dyno'd 3 times on 2 different transmissions, never had this issue before, etc. It's caused by a crossleak in the VB's that I found with no pressure applied using solvent. I got BS'ed had finally had enough. I quit doing business with Chris.

One of these customers was Tim O. I sent him a Griner VB to fix the issue.
Same trans, different VB, the results speak for themselves.

The other customer had a working unit that I built as an auto shift street unit, he installed a CK VB I supplied and had the same issue with lockup in 3rd.
He got a Griner as well, fixing the problem.

These guys got a $600 valve body to fix a $300 valve body.

Steve here had issues as posted. I offered free help to fix it having been there before with the same excuses, parts that don't work, etc.

    Steve's feedback.

    Rob's experience recently.

I'm curious what TX shops you had issues with. PM or email is fine.
Were they performance transmission shops? There is a large difference between a GOOD rebuilder and a good performance builder. Both are necessary and both are different.

So you can see why I make the statements I've made.

I'm sincerely glad your unit is working well. Does it have a transbrake?

This site along with many others have tons of members with transmission failures. It'd be nice to find a builder that can build one and keep it together.
I don't have a vehicle with Ur trans in it but I've installed one. I'd like to see it last a long time. Poor truck has had 3 transmissions in it.

My experience as a car enthusiast and graduating up the ranks as a builder is that a shop that is damn GOOD at rebuilding a typical transmission for a stock or near stock vehicle may not be very good at a performance build at all.

And it's not due to a lack of ethic, quality, workmanship, or otherwise. It's just not their niche.

They may be able to build a 4L60E or 4L80E for a stock pickup that will last twice as long as the OEM unit did, but when you add 100 HP or more, they couldn't make it live if they spent 3 months and 10 units trying.

There are many "performance" shops that do decent run of the mill performance work. You're average shop that can build a TH350, TH400, or Powerglide for a weekend toy, street/strip car, or mild to moderate bracket racer.
Typically these shops use someone elses valve body and oftentimes upgraded parts.
Nothing wrong with this. Someone else did the design work and they get lucky or spend enough time to develop a good combination of parts that works.
That's all that most customers care about. It works...

Some shops are more advanced, actually designing parts, correcting faults in other designs or parts, and can actually figure out complex hydraulic circuits/problems.

    To be honest,
CKPerformance is in the last category. Chris is a sharp guy. His QC is lacking. We all make mistakes, but some of us admit to them, correct the problem and keep going.

Other shops that are in the last category would be Hughes, ATI, TCI, Coan, Griner, FBPerformance, Extreme Automatics, RPM, and probably a dozen others I've forgotten to mention.

Some of the larger vendors are excellent but it's hard to talk to a real tech, but instead a salesman.

I know firsthand it's hard to be a smaller operation and do the building, answer the tech questions, and run the show.
Some customers won't talk to my other techs, they demand my attention even when my techs are more than capable of helping them. They aren't salesmen, they stand at the build benches alongside me and build, dyno, machine, etc.

I don't know which shops in TX ya'll have used. I don't know of many performance shops that do development. CircleD, Century, myself?
Art Carr is out of business, so is Redneck.

The best advice is to do your research, find a shop that fulfills your needs, see what they have out there that is similar to your combo working, and talk to them.

I refer customers all the time to other shops for transmission work depending on what they are looking for.
