Ever heard of a battery just going dead with no warning?

well, as the title implies? My truck has always started fine and had plenty of battery power. I changed the plugs, started up and drove it. Next day I jumped in to go get some lawn mower gas and nothing.... I checked to make sure no lights were left on, the battery cables were in good shape with no corrosion, battery had plenty of water, etc.. Everything was on the up and up. I jump started it and the alternator gauge showed to be charging, I drove it a little while, pulled back into the driveway and killed it. Tried to start it again and nothing.

I have just never heard of a battery going dead without first gettin a little weak?

Yup old timers could tell that the 6volt batteries would die slowly. You could turn the starter until it would quit. Wait 5 minutes and turn it over again. This newer 12 volts die quick, and since your alternator was still charging it just wasn't taking a new charge.
Check your voltage on the alternator to be sure it's OK. If it is too high your diodes could be bad, you will get AC current which would not charge your battery. A professional charging test equipment can check that allso.

Have the battery tested. I thought something was wrong with mine a few weeks ago and all it was is a cable came loose on the engine ground.

So many possibilities , Your right Red, good thing to check. When I pulled off my exhast manifolds the bolt that held on the dip stick bracket was loose. Allso a other bracket on the other side. And I have only 26000 miles on the truck.
