Quite interesting indeed. And I just put on a 160# t-stat....damnit. Oh well... I can always put the stocker back on if I need to...

The coolant logic is what I&#39;ve always heard, also. Honda&#39;s been experimenting with ceramic engines and running them glowing red hot. They&#39;ve had a lot of success and get tremendous fuel mileage out of them.

Yeah, they are getting tremendous fuel mileage out of them because their thermal efficiency is nearly 90%. The ceramic engines are quite the technological step, but they are veryyyyyy brittle--they are only good for one race...so you can only really start them once and race it once before they blow up or break apart...

I installed a tb stall and the 160* thermostat and i lost significant MPG. Anyone think its the 160* thats causing the MPG to decrease??

Not sure, but after reading that article, I&#39;ll probably swap mine back for a stocker.

X2, it&#39;s not like it takes long to do it. Hope it helps with the mileage. If you do it these couple of days, post up the result cuz I have to wait till the weekend to change it.

It won&#39;t be until I do the cam swap so it might be a week or more.

very interesting i have a 160 degree stat, e-fans and around town i still run 195 to 200 but on hiway its totally different more like 180 185 maybe even 190 i figure if you are at a constant speed ( not racing) driving on normal hiways with a low or cooler motor i wouldnt think theyre would be a problem the problem i would be seeing would be in racing with a cooler engine... but then again i am just thinking out load lol
