Talked to Allen and he has my timing at 30 degrees, but for some reason it's dropping to about 19. He said air intake temps may be affecting it, but I have that 'ram air' setup, so I would think mine would be cooler than normal. Any other ideas of what could affect it?

there are a ton of different charts on Hptuners that effect timing, if you zero out all the other charts then it has no choice but to revert back to the main spark table and take the timing it is given from that table, there are a mutiple amount of tables that change the timing

Allen said he has the tune pretty aggressive. I'm just confused about what's screwing my timing up.

Timing can be affected by anything, low octane fuel, detected knock, excessive temp reading from the coolant sensor, a slow processor in the laptop that is reading the timing values, bad MAF sensor readings... pick your poison. It may be low because it hasn't "learned" your truck and driving habits yet. You need a good 100 miles on it before it knows much about the engine.

I don't know if you've noticed or not but you'll hear a lot of guys saying that their truck feels like it's getting faster every day. That is from the PCM reading the feedback and making internal adjustments.

I run Exxon or Shell 93 Octane, there was absolutely zero knock, coolant is always at about 180, processor is Virgils, so not sure - I would guess it's fine, MAF - could be, not sure how to tell - I run an oiled filter, so maybe it's jacked up. I check it often though and it looks clean. Maybe like you said, it's still learning. And yeah, I know what you're talking about "learning" the PCM - maybe that's it.

Buy some MAF sensor cleaning spray and try it out.

Didn't know they made such a thing. They have a specific product or just like electrical cleaner?

Yep, don't use anything but MAF sensor cleaner on the MAF or you'll melt the plastic or damage it(what I was told).

Cool, I might try that over lunch. Had no clue they made MAF cleaner.
