Im not getting to much out of the other Truck Forums, so I will try here..
I put the new tranny in my truck and it is having all sorts of issues.. It wont shift into 2nd manually and it wont downshift into 2nd either driving down the road.. What do you think it is ??
You do have the speedo sensor in and it's working okay? The large electrical plug in making good contact? Next question, put it in OD and accelerate, does it shift good through all gears? Is the lockup working in the torque convertor properly? When in OD, if at about 45 mph will it downshift to 2nd gear if you floor it?

Also, it wont go into 2nd if I manaully do it while im rolling .. :(
Sounds like a valve body problem or the 2-4 servo assembly was done incorrectly. Valve body... the 3-2 downshift valve may be stuck or the 4-3 sequence valve body channel may be blocked. Servo... cover retaining omitted or left out, 4th gear apply piston damaged or misassembled, servo inner housing damaged or misassembled.

Who built your tranny??? Local?

I'd sure take it back to him. If he has a scanner he can narrow it down. They hook into the OBD2 port and put the transmission through its paces to see if everything is working correctly.
When i had my guy but my shift kit in he busted a seal on the 2-3 servo and it would not shift in or out of 2nd.

After 2 months of screwing with this damn thing, the Sierra is finally whole again, it turned out to be a bad checkball for the 2nd Gear Servo.. Funny thing is , he lost every bit of money he made + some because he went and bought all sorts of parts that it didnt need and the gas to drive out to my place about $20 each trip( he did it 6 times)..
Im glad to finally have my truck back, now I need to go get it tuned soon..
mine downshifts at like 35 mph or less when i floor it with stock everything. 45 may be high but somethings not right for sure on ur other symptoms. good to hear its fixed tho!

Thats awesome that at least he fixed it right for you even though he lost money. I got burned on one i had a local guy do. he tried 2 times but i had to pull it each time and the longest it worked was 6 days. then he wouldnt even return my calls. i was out $1400 plus my time. it is amazing how people can screw up such a common tranny that has been around in some form or another for like 20 years now!
