Wouldnt those also lift it some more also if you wanted to go up with it instead?

That is a very subjective feeling to try and describe. I am not too sure there are many ways to lower without affecting ride quality. If you shorten the suspensions travel, it has to be firmer to compensate.
If you are worried, go spend $225 on drop spindles. 35 bucks is cheap & easy.
