good idea, but a local guy around here has told me that they don't do too much for these trucks, and possibly more harm than good. i dont know though, just word of mouth...
i had this exact same one on my sts right after the turbo...huge gains with it open instead of going thru the tailpipe....
Stupid question of the day...if you're running TRUE duals, you would have to have two cutouts, one before each muffler, correct? And if you were running a dual in/dual out setup, you would only need one, just prior to the muffler?
Are there any downsides to these? Seems like some pretty good advertised gains for the price.
Maybe my questions are answered elsewhere...haven't searched yet. If so, sorry...!

The only downside i might see towards this is you take the backpressure off the motor. Am I mistaken or are motors suppose to have some sort of back pressure?? I may be wrong. I know in Allstar55566 had his 4.3 we took the exauhst off and it ran like shit.Quote:

I have one on my truck right before my Borla. You probably don't gain alot if any HP, but if you like a loud exhaust the QTEC is the way to go.

ok, so why did Bud8 have good results and bulldog didn't? Does the turbo come into play?
I'm also curious about the back-pressure question...
i'm pretty sure the turbo had alot to do with bud8's results.
Crap. I was getting my hopes up. Sounded like an inexpensive way to get some extra hp.
Bulldog, did you see good results from that BBK TB? I've been eyeing those...

But it looks like to me you have to buy the cut out for 140? and then the electronic opener for 109. or something like that. so it ends up being around 250 plus shipping. You can get you some pacesetter LT headers for 289.Quote:

Guys you have to remember they are probably showing the HP gains over a factory exhaust. And yes the turbo came into play, I just think making your exhaust louder will make you feel like your going faster or gaining HP, but your really not. IMO Don't get me wrong i love mine, but on a truck like mine i would expect no more than 5 HP if that!

True...it would be interesting to see what the actual results were.
Did you see my other question about your BBK TB?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Red03SilSS @ Aug 9 2006, 04:16 PM) </div>yes the turbo came into play....the 3" single tail pipe i had in the stock location from the turbo had enough noticable back psi off the turbo that when the cutout was open that you could tell a diffrence big time.....Quote:

So simply put, you're expelling exhaust before the muffler and avoiding its restriction, which in black and white, should give a little bit of a gain. The question is 'how much' and is less back pressure an issue?
yeah me too.. somebody showed some from summit that were like 350 bucks..thats cool. i want that too.
Yeah, that was me but no one responded to the post. Kinda sucks cuz now I see this post and see some feed back. Oh well just glad to see the results of this one. Heres the ones I ordered on monday.

I have a cutout right after each long tube header and picked up 2/10's and 3 mph in the 1/4 just by opening the cutout.
I guarantee the power to pull $300 out of your bank account never to be seen again. Hey, if you need an exhaust cutout, pay me $10 and I'll bring my sawzall over.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Red03SilSS @ Aug 9 2006, 04:01 PM) </div>that and a few other things haha like not having the cats installed, and running just a glasspack for a while full throttle alot. not to mention no tuning for the O2 sensors think that threw off something, and a worn distributor gear may have been why she ran like shit before she quit on me. cool thing is that truck beat a lot of vehicles in its day, and now its getting new life, cant wait for some ponies!!! gosh its gonna be hard babying it till i get that tranny redone. brandon u need someone to work for u? like wanna make this part of the family a lil richer? :help: i can sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady in white gloves. come on what do u say?Quote:
