I would like to know what would be the best way to attain 450-500 fwhp from my 05 silverado with a Turbo setup
Bolt it on and crank the boost up.
Nelson Performance front mount 76/96 on a mostly stock engine with about 10-12lbs should net you well over that. My cammed 5.3 with 12lbs makes 554/557
What's the best way to tune for a Turbo and what mods would I need minus a cam and springs and gaoling top ring
And I have read the stock trans doesn't like the power to well what is ur suggestion on this and what size stall would be best
Stall depends on your can but usually a 3200 if your boost comes in low. I've been thru 6 trans with my set up, one 4l60 four 4l80's and a 700r4 that I slipped the clutches in Wednesday. Got a th400 in the works. If I had it to do over I would have built the trans before I built the turbo kit.
What all is needed to convert to a Turbo 400 BC I have a full race built 400 with Kevlar clutches and all the works in my c10
I would say, valve springs, pushrods, tune (nelson does the tuning) and then a strong trans for anything 5-7lbs or more. The stock trans wont last long at all. I had a fully built one when I had my first turbo, so I didn't worry about blowing the trans at all.
Is it best to do a cam when u do everything else
What's the best bang for u Buck on the trans I have pondered swapping to a 400 but don't know how hard it would be being I'm an 05 and my trans is computer controlled
Yeah if you want to do a mild cam while you have everything apart, then I would do it. You can buy a junkyard 4L80E and do a swap from the 4L60E, there are differences in the trans, but nothing too crazy. Do some searching on this site, there is lots of useful information.
What does a junk yard 4l80 run
Not sure, probably would need to give a few junkyards a call in your area.
OK and I read on the swap this morning on here how hard is it to swap the rearend yokes on the trans
What is the best Turbo to run
My brothers truck is thm 400 swapped, just changed the speed sensor to electric. Cheap part, so cheap greg at phx just gave it to me.
What do u have to do to convert the th400 for my truck?
U aint makin much power, i dunno how ur blowing trans. Theres guys making plenty more with a 60e and running faster. Still say its the tune.
Think long and hard before goin three speed dude, my brother dknt have a GV and he's at like 3200 rpm at 68-70
Bolded ur problem. Leavein 3rd if ur playing hot rod!
What is the best cam to put in a 5.3 for a Turbo application
Got the digits but it cost me over drive lol
What kind of HP numbers can u pull with out boosting with decent mods like cam springs intake TB headers exhaust and good tune
I only go by quarter mile times!
See I have googled this crap man and I know quite a bit of shit about bolt ons. I have not seen synopsis proven numbers or anything I want to go Turbo BC I already have all the main shit needed I just don't know the little things and all I have been getting on here is check out Nelson well I'm not looking to spend a ton of money for someone else's kit when I can Fab it myself got me all I want to know is what all will I need to do to be able to tune for it and what's the best way to tune it do I need wide band o2s how many o2s do I use stack maf sensor or something else can I delete my cats and still be able to fine tune that's where I needed the most help BC with my Turbo setup I could easily bump boost up to run high500s into 6s easy but I want a streetable safe trans motor setup
You need either need a custom tune from Nelson performance(3-400) or other reputable tuner or a copy of hp tuners (650) a wideband and tuning isnt easy so prolly a few months of trial and error.
As for building your turbo kit check out the 15+ builds that have been done on this site and others.
You basically need a 76mm turbo and all the appropriate tubing. For the kit itself.
Then add supporting fuel system 60lbs injectors and a large fuel pump of your choice.
A trans to back it up. 80e is simple and straight forward for what you want, but a stall is gonna cost you. Good to about 600hp if you don't over heat it.

Your right nothing out there with definitive results. 2K and 100hp no big deal.
Hey Blu, been to the yogurt shop lately?
Ya lol i was there 4th of july! I gotta frequent flyer card there now! Amd 62nalide hooooooks it up! He's planning to have a meet there sometime... plenty of parkin as you know since you've been!
Good start for anyone, if you do plan to go turbo do some shorty headers like the ones Allen posted recently they are goin to use for a twin setup.
I however tell ppl start with gears & trutrac, then maybe caltracs, then 80e swap or thm400 if your feeling froggy! Then build your power plant!
Lol, I usually tell people to use the search function. If the OP knows so much about bolt ons and has all the main $#iz for it, he should at least know how much a turbo might add. Sounds like he's spent too much time playing Forza on the XBox and thinks that every mod adds a finite amount of power to the engine.
Bottom line: 60e is weak for our trucks 99% of the time, even the built ones are weak in comparison to the other options. Cam, do extensive research on your own or have someone spec a cam for you build. Take what you think you're going to spend on mods, then double it because that'll probably be how much you spend after its all said and done.
I don't know why I wasted my time typing that when he coulda just used the search function. :-/
Devin was here.
I think before he does ANY damn thing to his truck, he needs to spend some money at a college somewhere and take a class that'll teach him how to use punctuation.

This sounds like a wet dream to this guy!
the best for a stock truck is going to be Magnacharger.
