just recently stared doing the swap on my 2000 silverado and finally got done installing the motor, now got some of the wiring done but rand in to some problems like some of the connectors dont match up, like the tranny elctrical conector the one on my tranny is a circle and the one on my new harness is an oval lookin one, also in the fuse power box i have extra connectors that i would like to know where they go i will post picturs soon please help

The fuse box connectors, are they big rectangles or squares with a bunch of wires coming out of them??

i have on the new harness a white connector that looks it goes to the blue one but they dont line up right under the fuse box pannel ill will try to post picture tommorrow
What year is your harness? There's quite a few guys on this sit that have done the swap. Myself included.
the harness came from a 05 chevy work van with the motor, i was able to connect the basic plugs.its came down to the wires going to the main fuse box in the engine bay, i not sure if i need to get the smae year fuse box that came with that motor or is there a way around that if you have any tips or advice i would really appreciate it
You need a 99-02 truck harness. That's it. No if, no buts. 99-02 truck harness.

if it started and ran for two seconds and then died you most likely need to have the VATS/Passkey disabled in the tune.
just do a relearn and you should be fine..
What do you mean by a relearn how do I do that??
1. First, insert the ignition key and turn the ignition switch to the “On” position (Do not start the engine). Leave the switch on for 11 minutes. The security light may flash or be on steady during this 11 minute period. Make sure the light is no longer on or flashing before proceeding to #2 .Quote:

It's things like this where the stealerships make the true money, lol! Almost an hour's worth of work doing nothing but turning the key on/off at the right interval. Yeah like Devin said, I very rarely see RSCB V8 trucks up here, and I work at a GM dealership. Ever since I owned my truck I've always wanted to swap for an V8 and finally did and never looked back! Took a long time since I lost my licence, so I took my time and slowly gathered parts and rebuilt the engine, then finally put it in. To be honest I forget what year my harness was, I'm pretty sure it was out of a 01 2wd Suburban, everything worked except the low oil level switch which I will splice a new connector on when I get around to it, I check my oil at least once a week so it's no big deal. Have bigger issues I need to worry about lol. Should have my updated Nelson tune within a week or two then hopefully some of my other issues will correct themselves. Have had it on the road for a few months and it runs pretty good, very strong. As long as my little tranny holds up for the rest of the year I'll be laughing. Gotta get a new Y-pipe as mine will not hold a weld where it's cracked, not sure what kind of steel they use but I've welded it 3 times now and it just will not hold.
If I had to do it over again, had the engine totally assembled, harness, mounts, all the parts sitting beside me I could easily hammer it out in a day. Yes it would have been a bit easier already being a V8 but hey, I like a challenge. I'd do either again.
