an axle?if so how much power were u pushing when you broke it?i plan on breaking mine
Broke one in my truck with a tuned 4.8 doing donuts in the yard.... they can be fragile in the right situation.
ive heard 600 rwhp is about thier limit.
Damm
Yukon makes some that are supposed to be 25% stronger and they are reasonably priced from ron's. If the stockers are good to 600 the yukon's should be good for 750 if its a linear strength variable, but I am not sure.
A friend of mine broke his on his nnbs silverado 5.3 4 dr with only tune at the track. He didn't even do a burnout, as soon as he stepped on it, it went.
Ya, it's luck of the draw. Some will hold to 9.8 sec passes like the black truck Nelson built, others will break at stock power levels. I broke at least a dozen. But most were doing donuts. It's worth it to get some aftermarket ones to be safe. I had the moser axles in my 10 bolt. They worked well, or the Yukon ones would work too I'm sure.
i have only broke 1
Just did a search and it seems like nobody makes beefy aftermarket axles for the 8.6''. Is this true or am I not looking good enough? The only ones I can find are on page 19 under gm 8.6'' 10 bolt on ron's website. Other than that I couldnt find any
where can i find out how long the oem factory axle is on my 08 rcsb 2wd?
I've got one out of an 03 right beside me should be the same.
Don't try to break one. If your truck has drums, you could be losing a wheel.
is that one from a 03' drum brakes?my 08 has drums
Nope, disk. Sorry didn't realize they changed them
chevrolade if you ever get sick of looking at that truck you just pm me i will have to own it it is my favorite on here.
axles are usually broken on launch, going forward, i chose to go Yukons, theyve seen over 600 and some hard launches, so did the stocks, i changed them for the simple fact i had a small seal leak ( wear ) on one side. will they hold on the new setup i doubt it, but i wont change them until one breaks ;)
Zach i doubt you'll have a problem just dont see your setup launching harder than a nitrous setup. unless youre spraying out the hole and cutting some serious 60 ft times.
The 99-06 axles are not the same as the 08+ just FYI.
are the 08+ weaker? reason i ask im fixing to drop a 6.2 and probably run a tvs or procharger for the torque, going after high torque numbers this go round on my 09 truck
Not sure, the red truck allen has broke one just making a pass....
the nbs 07 and up are longer and the thikness is alot bigger. That axle broke on a weak 10 second pass
I'll be upgrading axles for extra insurance and so my rear bogart won't beat me to the finish line
I would look into c-clip eliminator axle setups.
this thread make me feel happy about having stock axles... haha
ur planning to break it?? lol, good luck, prolly be there to witness it!
I do know they will get bent If you are ever t boned.....both mine were pretty bad and tore up bearings
mine didnt break they twisted right where the splines are , was pushing like 500hp more or less.
