Can't we all just get along?

Woah Woah Woah boys things are getting a little heated in here why all the hate. Lets all chill out and remember these are just Trucks which means that its just a hobby for 95% of us. The other 5% who make a living off this stuff like Allen, DBRods and Casey at least they have their name and job on the line. The rest of us could just about disappear off the site and not have it affect our lives. Why all the hate show a little more respect to one another and stop all the trash talk. I don't mean the healthy stuff like rivalries between G and Parker. I mean this stupid crap where everyone gets offended over stupid crap.

Yeah this isnt some teenage roleplay forum or something... I enjoy seeing two people have a friendly rivalry but some stuff is just too far/ much

I agree. Having this site be a big part of my life, business and personal, I have to control what I say and show more respect. It really pays off in the long run.

I think if others had more on the line, we'd all get a long.

This would be a good time to state that, our new Moderators (unbiased and unknown to the public) are going to start cleaning up the site and weeding out the trouble makers.
Lately, there's just too much trolling and unrelated bs posted.
Please don't take this as a threat or anything like that, just a friendly reminder, if you can't get along with others, this isn't the only site to hang out at.

On a different note, if we do start getting along, this could be one of the best, tight nit, closest technical communities online.
Sure there are larger ones, but what admin is doing in the background is getting us at the top of a lot of google search results.
This site is steadily growing faster than most larger sites out there.
This means more traffic, more members, more opinions, so for the sake of the community, lets try to get along while standing behind your opinions.
Happier members, mean a bigger LS1Truck meet next year!!

I will say I'm glad to be one of the members that joined when the site was much smaller. It's cool to be sort of a senior to the site I guess.

I agree that keeping it clean and getting along makes a big difference in how this site is portrayed by others. We are the Ls1Truck community!

You have no idea about the Parker and G thing. It used to be worse than anything you've seen on this forum guaranteed. Which brings me to my final point... you haven't gained the respect of anyone here so your opinion doesn't mean much

this is true alot of me and parkers old post have been deleted over the BS we caused, even over on PT the got deleted i think he even got banned at one point, over the years we've settled are differences and its more friendly now, but believe me it took a few years to settle down, we bashed each other in any post no matter what web site it was, and yes justin (playboy) is a much bigger ass in person :lol: i agree there is alot of BS going on here recently, but if i end up getting banned because i mouthed a lightning driver than so be it, if another checks in ill mouth him to this is LS1truck.com not generaltruckforum.com :thumb: the more senoir members remember the fiasco that started between this site and that lame lighting site, although i had a big part in that :lol:

How do you get respect points? Maybe it should be below the user name and post count. Then, people would know who they can trust advice from.

I joined the site to learn as much as I can and to enjoy the time I'm on here. The way it's been lately, it's getting to where it's not as enjoyable. I don't know much about certain things involved with these motors and when I do know more, I'll give my input. But until then, I'll just keep reading and learning because it seems safer, since I've been a member for less than six months and I have less than 100 post.

I'll tell you you're a nutswinger to your face. That's not aimed at you, but I'll let someone know if they fit the bill.

same here. for the most part everything has been ok, but i'm not very familiar with building for performance and i've felt some heat for questions or topics that i thought were legitimate.
overall still a good experience though

^^^Thats bc ppl cry when someone doesn't search before they post.. alot of times it would keep them from posting bc there question would be answered. but I dont think its a very big deal. I do more reading and learning on these sites than posting also. Some members ego's are through the roof though makes me feel like im surrounded by highschoolers sometimes (all forums have a few) and all forums also have the select few guys who know so much and chime in from time to time to answer tough questions, then the know-it-all's. so on... like pl4yboy said "you haven't gained the respect of anyone here so your opinion doesn't mean much" << just sounds cocky and lame

for the newer members :wave: there is an ignore button, you can go to anyones profile and click ignore posts and all of the threads or posts from that person will be hidden while you read, you have the option of reading it if you want to just by clicking on it but if you dont want to it might as well not be there, ive got people on my ignore list and its quite nice :lol:

I'm wonder how many Ignore Lists I have made it on, haha.

This happens all to often. And affects the sites growth. We where all newbies at some point, all asked dumb questions, and have made bad cosmetic or performance choices...

I have a forum web site that tanked just for this reason. I figured a web site where you could say what you wanted and not get in trouble would be great. Not the case at all. Everyone got tired of all the trash talk and went somewhere else. We went from 1000 people online everyday to none.
We are here to share our knowledge of LS trucks and make some friends. Let's keep that going.

I had a bad day yesterday, I admit to being hostile and talking alot of crap... I think someone deleted over half of my post where the crap talking was taking place... Yesterday was actually the first time I have ever gotten into it with someone on this site, actually mutiple people...

Now I have no problems over there. FWIW: I dont post on Pirate, but everytime the bashing posts come up I mention it because those dudes eat everyone up. Newbies dont stand a chance. Who is this directed towards and who gave you the authority to grant who gets respected and who doesnt? From my point of view, this statement seems to defer respect rather than earn it. I've been on here for over 3 years and have never once said i had the authority to deny someone respect for their short tenure on this site.

I think some people tend to lose sight that everything that happens on this website is a direct reflection on Mr. Allen Nelson and should be treated as such. Allen has spent years trying to make this a professional gathering of hobbyists, enthusiasts, and friends. Acting in such a way that deters from this can easily be taken as insult by Allen.

Before people try to get defensive, you should know that i am a huge potty mouth and one of the biggest trash talkers in person. But I really dont bring any of that here even though I still have my fun with a few members on here (cough Tyler cough :lol:).

Case in point, before you (you refers to any member) post something, think of how it reflects on you and how it may reflect on others.

The site moderators are cleaning the site up and the trouble makers will weed themselves out.
If the trouble makers were gone, the site would run just fine. It has in the past and will in the future.

I along with 99% of the site do not want a forum that requires anyone to prove them self to anyone.
The site is setup for technical discussion, not belittling new comers and making them feel like it's wrong to post a question.
Newbies are what makes the site bigger, they are what make it grow and make the site become more popular.
More members, the more data we have, the more data we have, the more members will join.
Everyone on the site has a specialty, related to trucks or not. You never know when you'll need that members help on something, so why burn bridges with someone you don't even know.

To all you newcomers, post up, post up as much as you want, because I guarantee you, the next newbie is wondering the same thing.
The more posts, the more searchable data you'll create for other new members.
To all you tough guys and trolls, do what you want.

Chris you are a fairly educated gentleman. I'm sure you understand that an unrecognized voice means little in contrast to a familiar one. Of course more traffic means more money, so I can see why Allen wants more people. New people means new tunes and parts. For some of us however, this is a place to share info we have learned from experience. It is up to the new people to use proper forum etiquette to find questions that have been asked 100 times. This is a forum for help, not a baby-sitter.

Not once did I mention more money due to more members.
But what I did mention is a more friendly environment, please don't turn it around.
99% of the members want a technical forum, not a forum where they are hesitant to post and ask questions, which it has been lately.

It's up to veterans to show the new members what correct forum etiquette is!!!
It's up to veterans to set the example for everyone else and show new members, without sarcasm and bad behavior, how to treat new members.
It cracks me up when vets receive infractions for inappropriate language, trolling and other bad behavior, then try to debate it.
Vets have been on long enough to know how to act, so it's no surprise when they receive a forum for stepping outside the guidelines.

It takes just as much effort to type something rude as it takes to type something helpful.
