177000 miles and still on the stock one...and I beat the hell outta it
Pffff your not makin enough power lol. Jk we'll see how long mine lasts now with the new found love of n/a lol!
I'm gonna have to baby mine after the 5.3 swap till I can get it built all to hell
My stock 60 lasted almost a year after my cam swap, prolly 100 passes, then i got drunk one night and went out for a spin, stupid yes, anyways the next morning i went to my truck to go get a gatorade and the truck tried to go forward when i tried to start it
Hey Zach,
The 2000 chevy my dad bought from your friend Tres in Pearsall has 379,000 miles. 4.8 with 4l60 and the 373 gears(dif was rebuilt) and still going.
100,000 miles on mine with only vette servo, going on 5yrs with cam, bunch of track launches n/a and n20, give it hell all the time, oh and its my dd. Currently have a PI 3600. Changing it to an 80e, I know for sure it will blow with the turbo. *Knocks on wood*
in stock config and well taken care of parts or etc will last
when in the hands of idiots or how can i say careless ppl is when they fail, they also fail cause of poor rebuilds, poor trans tuning, over heating trans, free reving of internals after a track pass, neutral drops, weak parts and etc.
Skeets has a 60e thats been put to hell and back....... know of a faster 60e in a truck?
thanks quik, its going on its 4th year and cant even guess the passes it has from the ecsb to the rcsb, one thing i learned is a balanced driveline, proper rear setup and keeping the trans fluid cool will help the life of the trans greatly..
now onto the 09 the wife drives 21k needed rebuilding, 43k another rebuild wonder at 65k if its gonna need a rebuild :( remember i said the wife drives it lol probably never even seen a full throttle punch !
im not that fast but ive got a year on mine i built and i launch it on spray at track and drive the hell outa it around town almost every weekend, not bad for 12 sec truck with 60e i think, also my dd, key is good cooler good since, and keep good fluid,no 4th gear launches
ya'll know what im running.. well.. ive gone thru the stocker at 88k, my flt lvl3 dindt last more than 4 months before it broke.. input shaft busted.. 4 months later, output shaft blew, and just now.. a year and a half later, it lost OD and 2nd.. go figure.. im not beating on it. .im not street racing.. the truck's only been down the track 7 times in its lifetime and right now im on a fresh rebuild w\3 yr unlimited mile warranty...
lets see how well it holds up this time LOL (yeah my flt lvl 5 w\billet out put is the one that blew OD and 2nd and just got a rebuild at a local shop)
My bone stock 70e in my 08 lasted for two years of HARSH beating. I didn't cut it any slack and everyone that has ever ridden with me knows it. It lasted through 150 shot 4x4 launches for 40k miles before I wrecked the truck. No cooler, no servo, just tuning. I would venture to say that it would have lasted quite a while longer had I not wrecked it. The one in my 07 4.8 started getting sloppy at 30k miles. It's got 70k on it now, still sloppy as ever, but it's bone stock without a tune.
BlackX actually broke his lvl 7 FLT before he decided to tear the truck down for a monster build. He had a 370 with stock TRF 220 heads and a turbo. Now he's moved to a 408 and had the heads fully ported and moved up his turbo size. His truck weighted 4050 (yes a freaking S10 that heavy) because he raced it in full street trim with subs and everything. Now he's shooting for low 8s with some weight reduction and the new setup. I'm still working on my S10 build and am waiting on one freaking fuel fitting so I can button up the fuel lines and put my cab back on. She's getting an LS1 with 243 heads, an LS6 intake, mild cam and a stalled A4. I'm shooting for mid 11s as my truck shouldn't weight more than 3klbs.
anyway, are you lightning a candle to the 60e......
Be real, this is not "OEM stuff endure sissy driving and long miles !!!!".
We are about performance, 60e stock under our trucks with performance modes are a NO NO.
Or you beef it up, or upgrade it for 80e under mild to heavy performance conditions (th400 is also an option, and some rainbow guys prefered the Powerglide)
My oem 60e endure over 200K miles of heavy duty and some time to time race, on a ALL STOCK engine.
After a few mods, I kissed bye bye......
So, if you own a total Stock truck, change trans oil every 15K miles, and keep fluids in safe temp range, (and yours is not a CC 4wd houling 7K Lbs everyday) chances are 60e gonna live a happy long life.
Other wise, NOT
The 60 in my 99 ECSB held up for the 145k that I put her through. When I sold it, it was still strong. Only Problems I ever had were towards the end of 1500 mile road trips. It felt like it would start slipping a little bit under heavy throttle. I was never nice to it. It was a stock 4.8 though.
My stock 60e has 165k on it. It gives trouble under full throttle from a stop. However, if I am rolling it never slips. Going to rebuild it when I pull the motor out this next month.
got a 408 with my 60 with billet servos shift kit 3200 yank 9 clutches in 3,4 and beast sun shell holding so far been rapping it every day
im on my 3rd 60e in a year and a half and i wont mess with another one, 1 oe with vette servo and hd2 and 2 performabuilts, the performabuilt lvl2 in it now is about 2 months old and i dont see it holding up for 2 more months (not happy with it at all). my 97 silverado ecsb with boltons on the other hand i sold at 150+k of pure hell, constant wot, 1 fluid change and trailers that needed a 1 ton dually puking black smoke and 50k underneath the teenager i sold it to and still flawless.
QUOTE "Why on earth would GM put such an anemic transmission in a heavy ½ ton truck, Avalanche, or Escalade?
These transmissions barely hold up to the punishment a stock LSX based engine generates. Now add a few modifications to it, trust me, it won’t last long.
It’s great the new generation GM trucks with LSX engine variants are probably the most reliable and powerful engines out, but it would be nice if these transmissions would last a little longer."
