They really dont help at all. Most throw lean codes and cause problems later. Not worth it IMO.
there isnt a thing called a performance MAF. A maf is a supporting sensor and when its time to upgrade its time to go SD. your stock 85mm is plenty
SD is Speed Density.
OMG... lol, like what is speed density, does it have to do with higher air flow?
hahahahahaha... speed density is when the pcm uses only the volumetric efficiency table to adjust injector pulse width. The VE table is basically a table of numbers that represent the pumping effeciency of the engine. SD uses the IAT, and MAP sensors and engine rpm to reference what value of the VE table to use to adjust fueling. Stock our trucks use a combination of the MAF and the VE table. It uses the VE table at low rpm/low air flow and switches over to the MAF at higher rpm/airflow since the MAF doest get stable readings with low airflow. People run SD to be able to copletely do away with the MAF so they can route the intake without having to worry about it and several other reasons. Some will say SD is better and some say using the MAF is better. I dont really know. I like the MAF myself because it measures actual dynamic airflow and is not a "guesstimation" like the VE table. That is why when you make a change to the airflow to or from the engine (ex. headers, cam, heads, intake etc.) you need to retune the the ve and maf tables in the pcm to decrease/add fuel to compensate for the increased/decreased pumping effeciency/airflow of the engine. Thats just my .02 and understanding of the subject. I might have missed a few things or be wrong on a thing or two but anyone is welcome to correct me :)
True, everyone on here that I have seen used is already sold lol... If you guys see any point them in my direction.
So im guessing its expensive to get an SD tune...I thought it was something cheap...lol
Hopefully the link works

Try a junk yard...go to a local parts shop such as autozone, orileys, or hell even try out a dealership.
Do you have a wideband? Im fairly sure that no tuner will do an SD tune if you dont, and a used, probably even new MAF sensor is less money than a WB.
Try this out:

Thanks but I really dont wanna buy a brand new one, $250 is a lot of money for a part when im not %100 sure its the problem... my check engine light is coming on saying something like low mass air input, those aren't the exact words but they were something like that.
