-
damn, that sux, see if the machine shop thinks it's ok to install new ones and see how the cam spins. i had a tight spinning cam one time, risked it and installed it anyway, been running since.
-
yea i dont know my situation sucks....i have a 30 day warranty from the salvage yard i got it from.gonna call em in the a.m..just dont know if hes gonna like the fact that i opened it up....cant believe this it only has 27 k miles was super clean and was a killer deal for $1,200 shipped........
-
I was being sarcastic...ya that sucks. Had that happen on an older SBC, kinda ruins your day. Better you caught it now then later though.
-
its alrite,im gonna try and get a refund and look around
-
where did you get it from?
-
still think it had 27k on it?
-
same situation here man. Got a motor. did a cam swap and installed it. Rod bearings were trashed. now my daily driver has no motor. so i had to settle and buy a 5.3 and have to swap it all again
-
wow i know how u feel man^^ damm and u installed it.man these guys are giving me the run around!! i got it out of dallas c and d auto salvage.....just in case u guys know any place in san antonio that are proffesional that can install the cam bearings????? another question since the cam bearings were sort of mest up ...would that cause anything else to be worried about? man this really sucks.......about how much are the l92 heads worth?
-
ya, loss of oil pressure would hurt all the bearings....The only good news, they are very easy to rebuild if they wont get u another one. good luck
-
well the guy i bought it from said he would pay for the cam bearing repairs........i dont know wtf to do .....is mission auto parts in s.a a good place to do the bearing swap?anyone know?
-
I would replace cam, rods, and mains. Get the block cleaned and make sure the oil pump is still good...
-
Sucks to hear your misfortunes bro. Get that thing sorted out on the sellers dime, and then run the hell out of it. Dont stress on it tho, only makes you feel worse
-
update: engine will be taken to mission in s.a...to inspect and replace cam bearings...the salvage yard is gonna cover it...
-
Awesome, cant wait to see how that truck runs after the swap. Good luck.....
