:tvhaha: at Yuck an Tuck......Not anyone who may have got injured.
I dunno man.. regardless of the arguements of 'chevy sucks, ford sucks, etc' .. .i will always buy an american car as long as there are american car companies.. my boss has a 2007 camry.. and im scared for him to get in that situation.
the failure rate is something like .000000008%. i dont even know how to say that. the media enjoys blowing things out of portion and getting everyone into a panic. toyota is just being proactive on recalling an extremely small potential hazard. also, it's only higher mileage units that are likely to be affected. i doubt any of the 2009 and 2010 models are high mileage yet.
and for the record, toyota is as american as chevy at this point. we need to get over our brand loyalties and recognize a great product when we see it.
^..... agreed.
Toyota has halted selling any of the affected moels
I think Toyota had a recall on their driver floor mats, becuase they would jam up the gas pedal.
no Toyota has a recall about the floor mats. My boss got the recall notice in the mail. They told him for the time being to remove the floor mats.
Toyota, Lexus Mat Recall: 3.8 Million Vehicles Recalled Over Floor Mats
WASHINGTON — Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it will recall 3.8 million vehicles in the United States, the company's largest-ever U.S. recall, to address problems with a removable floor mat that could cause accelerators to get stuck and lead to a crash.
The recall will involve popular models such as the Toyota Camry, the top-selling passenger car in America, and the Toyota Prius, the best-selling gas-electric hybrid.
The recall will affect 2007-2010 model year Toyota Camry, 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon, 2004-2009 Toyota Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra, 2007-2010 Lexus ES350 and 2006-2010 Lexus IS250 and IS350.
if you truely believe toyota is as american as chevy something is seriously wrong. just cause its assembled here doesnt mean its amercian vehicle.
you can put sugar on shit in the end its still shit. build a import here its still an import in the end
and chevy is made in canada. half of toyota is built in america, by companies lead by americans. infact, the only toyotas that have problems are the ones that were built in america....theres your true american engineering for ya! all japanese built cars are not affected by the recall.
some of the chevy plants are in mexico and canada, but we still call it american.
keep believing what you want to believe. That money doesnt stay here only the percentage they pay their workers.
its assembled in america. different then made in america
dont forget chevy plants are also in america. theres a stamping plant up the road a few miles from me. Ones that make the panels.
well technically canada and mexcio are still part of north america
i guess its true in the grand scheme of things. i just get to see the tundra being built in texas, and a toyota processing center in Houston where they come off of the rail as a car shell. its a japanese based company that caters to the american market (and every other market)
back to the topic. if you know anyone driving a toyota that is affected by the recall, dont freak out lol. media is blowing it all out of proportion.
GM isn't recalling the Vibe (it's a Matrix) yet, offering incentives to Toyota customers though
HAHAHA i wrote absolutely no opinion about the matter and everyone starts arguing. The point was for this to be informative not to degrade them.
^^^ Youre right, i shouldve known better.
I am renting a Corolla right now. Not worried. If it sticks I will just turn the key off.
they built a junk product they get what they deserve. its sorta like that movie with Micheal keaton from the 80s
:spit: choose a different news network. there have not been 18 deaths.
actually the bad part was part produced and supplied from an american company. i guess thats what toyota gets for trying to outsource work to american companies. and a junk product would not become a number one auto manufactorer in the world.
Ummmmm, this has been an issue since last fall. You're right I was wrong, it's 19 deaths.
Jan 30, 2010 ... Toyota Recall Hits 9 Million Cars Worldwide ... said sudden unintended acceleration in all Toyota vehicles had resulted in 19 deaths in the United States...

What are you talking about. Johnny Dangerously was an awesome movie. :hyper2:
Ok everyone, quit you're bitchin. Toyota doesnt make junk. Every manufacturer has had several recalls. I choose to remain loyal to american companies. If some dont i wont get offended and neither should you so everyone play nice.
Gung Ho
LIVE AMERICAN BUY AMERICAN. Support our economy
haha i have a toyota. and i have a honda, and i have a chevy. toyota provides THOUSANDS of jobs to american workers, so no, im not against American workers:thanks:
and my favorite brand will always be the bowtie:chevy: so no i have no problem with the american pride either.
The tired old Union (UAW) mentality , buy American , who do you think funds the American Companies ? Take a guess . Japan , China , so buying a Ford , Dodge , GM , the money still goes to a foreign country .
SO does not matter what you buy , you are helping to fund some foreign country somewhere . Buy American , 70% of the parts are foreign , so I guess you can buy 30% of the vehicle then !
Don't get me wrong I like GM , just not the UAW slime that builds them .
not trying to talk bad about someone that has died, that sucks but.... turn the dam key off, shift to N, slam it into park, common sense, gm has been using drive by wire for how long? i have owned 2 and have never herd of any issues, even my rc cars have a fail safe to keep them from going out of control. just goes to show if they would have put more money into testing and research and less into advertiseing they might have saved lives, and their reputation. moral of the story buy gm. lol:twocents:
can you explain to me how China or Japan, etc fund american companies?
Ford leveraged every asset they had via mortgaging it to save thier company and not take a bailout.. ok maybe they got some of the mortgage money from a Chinese bank( i really have no idea if they did, or what banks they did business with).. but my point is.. Ford saved themselves.. so how are they sending thier money overseas?
GM.. well, they started with a US Government bailout, so thier money goes to the Government of the US since the US OWNS 60 percent of them.
Dodge, is only 80% American. the UAW is a greedy organization that helped destroy GM, Ford, and Dodge\Chysler\Plymouth. And btw, the Mustang , while is may have foreign electronics, is 100% built in America, by Americans, supporting an AMERICAN company. Its always been built in Detroit, and according to Ford, always will be.
bottom line, support the American companies, keep our money here..

GM is as American as can be, now that the government has them by the balls!
