So you can bore a 5.3 to 6.o?
a 6.0 is a 4.0 bore if i'm not mistaken
a 5.3 can become 364 CI but it would be a different beast then your typical 4" bore 364
No sir, My point was that if you want a 4'' bore, a much much cheaper way is to get a 6.0 block. And go that way.
yes sir.
Yes, because of a different stroke setup. You would need a 4.1 or so stroke to = a 6.0 lol
:alone:
Yea the maximum bore will be stock ls1 bores from 5.3 to 5.7. Even a 4.8 can be bored out to 5.7 you'd just have to get the crank off a 5.3 or so on.
6.0 or turbo ftw............. or 6.0 AND turbo ftmfw :burnrub:
You can bore and stroke a 5.3 block to a 363ci or 6.3L, but like said, no 4" bore.
gotta get a Ford for that ...................
Even if you did want to bore it to the 5.7 bore, any machine shop will highly recommend the block be sonigrammed to check the thickness of the walls. That will cost you extra as well, so it might be wise to just save for a 6.0 block. Plus if anything catastrophic happens with the bored 5.3 your screwed whereas the 6.0 can be rebored a couple times. Unless of course you have a specific reason for doing the 5.7 bore. In that case stroke it to a 363 like quik said. Should yeild much more low end torque.
There are many guys who run the 346 and love them. Good power and great if you are building a low compression boosted motor! I myself like the thought of big cubes so i picked up a 6.0 and eventually will be building a 370 for boost. But as most guys say, I would go no bigger than the 346 bore that way if somthing does happen it can still be fixed( you have a better chance).
You can make 500 CI out of a 6.0 block :)
